Music Lesson Plans For Teachers Are Not Hard To Find

Many teachers will create own their lesson plans from the curriculum materials that they have been provided with, and in most cases they do these completely from scratch. However, today there are a growing number of places on the internet where music lesson plans for teachers are available, and these can easily be incorporated into the curriculum.

There are in fact several Websites which now offer free or low cost lesson plans that a teacher can use. The best types of plans to use are those which have been written by practicing music tutors or educators. You would probably also want to look for those plans which come with samples of the students' work and include downloadable files, as this will save you time when it actually comes to creating the files to go with your own lesson plan.

There are several sites which meet all the necessary criteria for allowing you to locate quality music lesson plans, and below we will take a look at some of those now available. While not all the plans you find on the web will be applicable to your teaching situation, if you look through them carefully there will be ones that will best fit into your particular circumstances.

1. Apple (apple.com)

This company hosts a website which is dedicated to the world of music education and has lesson plans available that have been written by music teachers. One possible problem may be that all their lessons are for use with Apple's GarageBand digital audio sequencer for the Macintosh. Although they are specifically referenced for the GarageBand program, they can be used and applied to other music production software that you may be using to teach your students with.

You will discover that this site is organized into several different areas of education from elementary to middle to high school. Each lesson plan they provide is in PDF format and is separated into sections including project overview, project steps, outcomes, technology skills, the preparation and duration of each lesson plan, and any assessment suggestions. It also provides you with some information regarding tools and resources that you may need.

However, Apple does not organize their lesson plans into either categories or integrated subject areas. So it is really up to you how you decide to look through them in order to find the ones which are most appropriate for your use.

2. MET Archives (metmagazine.com)

This publication runs a lesson plan column and any of the articles produced in the magazine are then archived onto their website. All you need to do to gain access to these lesson plans is click on the lesson plan link, which can be found on the left hand side of the home page on their Website.

Although there are only 11 lesson plans available to use at the time of this writing, each one will have audio and data files that can be used as part of your own lesson plans. Also, as this magazine is published on a quarterly basis you can be pretty sure that new lessons will be added to the site.

While this short article doesn't allow us to look at more than the two sites we've mentioned above, there are plenty of other Websites offering similar music lesson plans for teachers. All you need to do is to carry out a little research and you are likely to find just the right types of lesson plans to suit your teaching style perfectly.
